To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. (Proverbs 12:1 NLT)

Saw this prayer in my boss’ office

Finding your tail

An old dog saw a little dog chasing its tail and asked, “Why are you
chasing your tail so?”

Said the puppy, “I have learned that the best thing for a dog is happiness, and that happiness is my tail. Therefore, I am chasing it and when I catch it, I shall have happiness.”

Said the old dog, “My son, I too, have paid attention to the problems of the universe. I, too, have judged that happiness is in my tail. But, I have noticed that whenever I chase after it, it keeps running away from me, and when I go about God’s business, it just seems to come after me wherever I go.

Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you! (Proverbs 11:27 NLT)

Psalm 65 (NIV)

For the director of music. A psalm of David. A song.

Praise awaits[b] you, our God, in Zion;
    to you our vows will be fulfilled.

You who answer prayer,
    to you all people will come.

When we were overwhelmed by sins,
    you forgave[c] our transgressions.

Blessed are those you choose
    and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house,
    of your holy temple.

You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds,
    God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
    and of the farthest seas,

who formed the mountains by your power,
    having armed yourself with strength,

who stilled the roaring of the seas,
    the roaring of their waves,
    and the turmoil of the nations.

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
    where morning dawns, where evening fades,
    you call forth songs of joy.

You care for the land and water it;
    you enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water
    to provide the people with grain,
    for so you have ordained it.[d]

10 You drench its furrows and level its ridges;
    you soften it with showers and bless its crops.

11 You crown the year with your bounty,
    and your carts overflow with abundance.

12 The grasslands of the wilderness overflow;
    the hills are clothed with gladness.

13 The meadows are covered with flocks
    and the valleys are mantled with grain;
    they shout for joy and sing.

What a powerful reminder you’ve left us with, Bishop.

God has used you to teach me about the principle of worshiping God. I’m bringing your words with me whenever I lead worship.

I’m sure you’re dancing and praising in heaven now!

Thank you for your life, presence and example. I’m proud to say that you’re my bishop.

My God is AWESOME

Editor’s Note: The following is a report on the practical applications of Kary Oberbrunner’s book, The Deeper Path: Five Steps that Let Your Hurts Lead to Your Healing, (Baker Books, 2013).

In this fallen world, pain enters everyone’s life, so it’s inevitable that you’ll have to deal with…

More of you Jesus

I’ve touched the hem of Your garments
And I have felt the leading of Your hand
But today, my eyes look much higher to see the face of the great “I am”

I’ve touched the hem of Your garments
And I have felt the leading of Your hand

But today, my eyes look much higher to see the face of the great “I am”
So more of You Jesus, more of Your face, more of Your glory in this place

More of You Jesus, more of Your face, more of Your glory in this place
Ive touched the hem of Your garments

And I have felt the leading of Your hand
Oh but today, my eyes look much higher to see the face of the great “I am”

I’m longing for more, and more, and more
More of You Jesus, more of Your face,
